    U.S. third-quarter economic growth revised higher

    The U.S. economy rebounded more strongly than initially thought in the third quarter, the government confirmed on Wednesday, but higher interest rates as the Federal Reserve battles inflation have raised the risks of a recession next year. The economy had contracted at a 0.6% rate in the second quarter. Economists polled by Reuters had forecast GDP growth would be raised to a 2.7% rate.

    Tennis player Fernando Verdasco accepts 2-month doping ban

    Former top-10 professional tennis player Fernando Verdasco accepted a voluntary provisional doping suspension of two months after testing positive for a medication for ADHD, the International Tennis Integrity Agency announced Wednesday. Verdasco, who turned 39 this month, said he was taking methylphenidate as medication prescribed by his doctor to treat ADHD but forgot to renew his therapeutic use exemption for the drug. The integrity agency said Verdasco has now been granted an exemption by the World Anti-Doping Agency moving forward.
