    Israel tightens travel restrictions over new COVID variant

    Israel on Sunday approved barring entry to foreign nationals and the use of controversial technology for contact tracing as part of its efforts to clamp down on a new coronavirus variant. The Health Ministry said in a statement that the country’s coronavirus cabinet had authorized a raft of measures, including red-listing travel to 50 African countries, banning entry by foreigners and mandating quarantine for all Israelis arriving from abroad. It also approved use of the Shin Bet internal security agency’s controversial phone monitoring technology to perform contact tracing of individuals confirmed with the new omicron variant of coronavirus in Israel.

    Fulton tops Figueroa, unifies WBO, WBC super bantam titles

    Stephen Fulton Jr. unified the WBO and WBC titles Saturday night with a majority decision over Brandon Figueroa in a matchup between undefeated super bantamweight world champions. The showdown was set up earlier this year with each fighter capturing a world title by defeating an undefeated opponent, as Fulton bested Angelo Leo in January to capture the WBO belt, and Figueroa stopped Luis Nery in May to earn his WBC title. In the sixth round, each fighter landed power shots, with Figueroa connecting on 36 to Fulton’s 34.

    India 84-5 at lunch on 4th day, leads New Zealand by 133

    New Zealand bowlers Kyle Jamieson and Tim Southee took two wickets each as India was reduced to 84-5 at lunch on the fourth day of the first cricket test on Sunday. Jamieson took 2-21 while Southee returned 2-27 as India's top order collapsed in front of movement off the surface.
