Devil Ball Golf - Golf

Is there any athlete who's had more of an up-and-down — lots of downs, very few ups — in the last few years than Tiger Woods? You know it all by now: hydrant, scandal, apology, injury, slow recovery.

But lately, there have been signs that maybe, just maybe, things might be turning around for the onetime dominator. Several good rounds in Australia, including the clinching round in the Presidents Cup, have led many to speculate that Woods is on the way back. Woods himself, in an interview with CNBC's Darren Rovell, hints at just such a possibility.

"I went through a period of time there where I was struggling for a bit because I was hurt, wasn't able to practice, was finally able to basically turn around here," he said, "and things are now starting to progress. I played well in Australia and I'm really looking forward to my tournament next week [in Los Angeles]."

Woods has also joined forces with a new sponsor, Fuse Science. He'll next tee it up at the Chevron World Challenge. Last year, he lost that tournament in a playoff to Graeme McDowell. This year? He might fall apart early, or he might just win the whole thing. We're not quite sure whether Tiger has it in him to play well ... but that's a far cry from the certainty that he can't.
