In the ever-flowing sea of Hollywood blowouts and sleek-straight coifs, the celebrities who opt show off and embrace their natural hair looks on some of the hottest red carpets is always refreshing — and the curls, coils, and textured styles at this year’s Golden Globes were an incredible sight to see.

From Viola Davis’s full Afro to Tarana Burke’s braided updo, stars aligned on the 2018 Golden Globes red carpet Sunday evening for an alluring ode to natural hair. And those hairstyles, along with the statement-making black ensembles worn to support the Time’s Up protest against sexual abuse within the entertainment industry, collaboratively demonstrated progression at its finest.
