GMA news anchor T.J. Holmes is in scalding hot water following reports that he and fellow GMA coworker Amy Robach are having an affair, despite the both of them being married.

The Daily Mail obtained photographs of the two looking VERY comfortable with each other in an upstate New York bar. They even spotted the two holding hands at one point during their outing.

According to an insider, the pair had “recently grown even closer due to their cohosting GMA3, and traveling for special remote assignments, like going to London for the Queen’s funeral,” the source revealed to Entertainment Tonight. “The two have a special bond that has been evident to staff for years, so it’s not surprising a relationship has formed, but it is shocking that it has come to light in this way.”

Who is ‘GMA’ News Anchor, T.J. Holmes?

T.J. Holmes is a renowned news anchor and journalist who began his career in television anchoring for the CNN Saturday & Sunday Morning show.

He worked for other major networks, including BET and MSNBC before joining the ABC News Team in 2014. There, he would eventually work alongside GMA co-host Amy Robach. And the rest, as they say, was history.

How Long Has The Alleged Affair Been Going On?

An unnamed source told Page Six that the relationship started in March. At the time, Robach and Holmes were preparing to run in the New York City Half Marathon together.

And an insider from GMA revealed to Page Six that, “They have a very cozy relationship on air, but that is what is expected. But they were very careful behind the scenes to keep their affair secret.”

Still, fans noticed that Robach stopped wearing her wedding ring on social media, further fueling rumors.

A source told Page Six that “The producers at GMA are shocked to hear they are having an affair.” And they certainly aren’t the only ones. Upon hearing the news, the internet went wild.

1. The Alleged Affair Began in Early 2022

According to reports, the affair had been going on for quite some time. In fact, sources allege that the two had been seeing each other since March of 2022.

“There were rumors they were having an affair about a year ago,” another source told PEOPLE. “A lot of people believed there might have been some truth to it because you can see there’s a mutual affection there. But everyone ultimately chalked it up to friendship because they always said they were both happily married.”

2. Neither Party Has Confirmed The Nature of Their Relationship

The canoodling news anchors reportedly separated from their respective spouses months after they started dating.

A source tells PEOPLE that the pair “broke up with their spouses in August within weeks of each other.”

Neither party has confirmed that they are, in fact, dating. However, after incriminating pictures of the pair surfaced revealing their alleged relationship to the public, their behavior sparked further speculation.

Hours after the news broke, the two deactivated their Instagram accounts. Marilee Fiebig, the wife of T.J. Holmes, also recently set her IG account to private.

3. They Went on Double Dates

In March of 2010, T.J. Holmes tied the knot with his second wife in Memphis, Tennessee. Three years later, the couple would welcome their first child, a daughter named Sabine. Holmes also has two other children, Brianna and Jaiden, from his previous marriage to Amy Ferson.

Holmes and Robach both wed their respective spouses in 2010. Robach married Andrew Shue, an American actor known for his roles in ‘Melrose Place’ and ‘Beverly Hills 90210’. The pair share five children, all from previous relationships.

Even though Holmes and Robach were married, they grew closer and closer to each other, even driving their partners to attend double dates in an effort to be together.

Robach previously gushed to People about her connection with Holmes. “The moment he started at ABC, I think we just clicked.” She said. “We’ve gone on tons of double dates with our spouses and my daughters babysit his daughters.”

4. Holmes Admits to Giving His Wife "plenty of reasons, excuses, and opportunities to walk"

Holmes wed his second wife, Atlanta attorney, Marilee Fiebig in 2010. And for their tenth wedding anniversary, he penned a heartfelt message on social media, crediting her “built-in Black woman superpower” for not leaving him sooner.

And even though he made no mention of what he did to betray her trust, he certainly made it a point to acknowledge his problematic behaviors.

“10 years ago, Marilee Fiebig married me. And despite my best efforts, she remained married to me the past 10 years.” Holmes wrote in a social media post. “That’s not hyperbole. I’m not being dramatic. I gave her plenty of reasons, excuses, and opportunities to walk her fine ass out the door. But instead, with her built-in black woman superpower, she showed a grace and patience that’s incomprehensible.”

He continued, “Asking her for another 10 years would be asking too much. Another 10 months? That may even be a stretch. If she gave me another 10 weeks, I should consider myself lucky. If she puts up with me another 10 days, I’d be grateful. But if she would even spare another 10 minutes of her time for me today, I should consider myself blessed.”

5. Holmes and Robach Immediately Hit it Off

In 2014, T.J. Holmes joined the ABC News Team, acting as a stand-in for their overnight news program World News Now,  America This Morning, and later GMA.

He met Holmes before becoming a permanent GMA co-anchor. And according to Robach, the pair hit it off pretty quickly.

“[They] said, ‘Hey, we want to bring on a co-anchor. What do you think of T.J. Holmes?’ And I almost fell out of my chair,” she explains in an interview with People.

“My God. You couldn’t have picked a better person to ask me what I thought of, because we’ve been trying to figure out a way to work together for literally the last five years.”
