Richard Moore, Lionel Birnie and Daniel Friebe remember that 2000 race and Marco Pantani's comeback after being kicked out of the previous year's Giro while just a couple of days from clinching victory.
As we are in Cesenatico, Pantani's home town, we look back 12 months to the day Daniel and Lionel dropped in on the family-owned piadineria and Lionel's attempt to make the traditional Italian flatbread sandwiches is scrutinised by food writer Felicity Cloake.
