GIRLS: Truckers, Flyers open season with wins

Nov. 21—ASHLAND — Brooklyn Davis scored 12 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Norwalk to a 40-28 win over Ashland on Friday night as the girls basketball season began.

Abby Koenig led the Truckers' tough defense with six steals and had three assists.

The Truckers (1-0) broke open a close game by outscoring the Arrows 13-8 in the fourth quarter.

NORWALK — Maddy McCall scored 20 points to lead St. Paul past St. Mary Central Catholic 56-26 on Saturday in the season opener for both teams.

The Fliers jumped out to a 14-3 lead after one quarter and outscored the visiting Panthers 17-4 in the fourth quarter.

Sara Matlack added nine points for St. Paul.

Mea Hofstatter led the Panthers with six points.
