GIRLS' SOCCER ROUNDUP: Dragons defeat Devils

Sep. 1—SELLERSBURG — Class 2A No. 14 Silver Creek tallied two goals in each half en route to a 4-0 victory over visiting Jeffersonville on Thursday evening at Hunter Station Pizza Stadium.

Lucy Jones led the Dragons with two goals while Jordan Lewis added a goal and an assist. Sophie Rouster also found the net while freshman Camryn Thomas and sophomore Olivia Kouray had one assist apiece.

Sophomore Raegan Cook had three saves in goal to earn the clean sheet.

The Red Devils (2-1) will visit Providence at 11:30 a.m. Saturday while the Dragons (4-1) will host New Albany at 6 p.m. Tuesday.


COLUMBUS — Kamden Pierce, Ella Boyd and Lauren Hinton had two goals apiece to lead Class A No. 2 Providence to a 6-1 win at Columbus East on Thursday night.

Molly Richards dished out a trio of assists while Jillian Hinton, Livy Theobald and Mary Furnish had one apiece for the Pioneers.

In goal, Kate Simmons (three) and Brookelyn Schneider (one) combine for four saves for unbeaten Providence (7-0), which will host Jeffersonville at 11:30 a.m. Saturday morning.


CHARLESTOWN — Three first-half goals helped host Charlestown down Scottsburg 4-0 in a Mid-Southern Conference match Thursday night.

The Pirates (2-3, 1-0) will visit Corydon Central on Wednesday.
