Girls basketball roundup: Strong 2nd half lifts BOLD past ACGC

Feb. 26—OLIVIA — The BOLD girls basketball team advanced in the Section 2A-North playoffs Monday with a 57-38 victory over Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City.

BOLD, the fourth seed, plays top-seeded Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart at 6 p.m. Thursday at Sibley East High School in Arlington. BLHS beat ninth-seeded Cedar Mountain 92-41 on Monday.

BOLD used a strong second half to beat ACGC, out-scoring the fifth-seeded Falcons 34-18 after the Warriors led 23-20 at halftime.

Lainey Braulick had 18 points and six steals, Lily Henriksen added 17 points, six rebounds and four steals and Kenzie Visser contributed 10 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and three blocks to the Warriors' cause.

For ACGC, Ruby Klinger scored 21 points to lead all scorers. Senior Elli Roemeling, meanwhile, pulled down her 1,000th career rebound for the Falcons.

In other Section 2A-North games, No. 3 Sleepy Eye St. Mary's defeated No. 6 Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop 79-47 and No. 2 Sleepy Eye beat No. 7 New Ulm Cathedral, also by a score of 79-47. SESM plays the Sleepy Eye at 7:45 p.m. Thursday in Arlington.

Kaida Helgenset had 25 points, Elle Kletscher 14 and Presley Nygaard 12 in Benson's victory over Ortonville in the 6A-South play-in game at Benson.

Kadyn Gronholz scored 10 points to lead Ortonville.

Benson was the eighth seed in 6A-South. Ortonville was the ninth seed.

The Braves play at 7 p.m. Thursday at top-seeded Hancock at 7 p.m. Thursday.
