Girls basketball roundup: RCW edges New Ulm Cathedral, 57-56

Jan. 22—RENVILLE — The Renville County West girls basketball team beat New Ulm Cathedral in a thriller Monday night, defeating the Greyhounds 57-56.

It improved the Jaguars' season record to 2-12, earning RCW its first win since Dec. 21 when it won 67-52 at Ortonville.

Emily Lippert, Holly Hinderks and Vivia Hebrink led the way for RCW.

Lippert, a 5-foot-7 senior forward, had 17 points and 14 rebounds. Hinderks, a 5-8 sophomore guard, added 14 points, seven rebounds and four steals. Hebrink, a 5-6 freshman guard, contributed 10 points and four steals.

The teams were tied 25-25 at halftime.

RCW plays Tracy-Milroy-Balaton in a Camden Conference matchup at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Tracy.

Lakeview had eight scorers record at least one basket in its victory over Benson at Cottonwood.

Harley Mandelkow led the Lakers with 12 points. Anah Schmidt had 11 and Megan Schwartz added nine.

For Benson, Kaylin Grube led the way with 13 points. Kaida Helgenset scored 12 and Presley Nygaard had six.

The Braves play host to Melrose at 7 p.m. Friday at Benson.
