GIRLS' BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Clarksville notches 2nd victory
Nov. 21—KNIGHTSTOWN — The Clarksville Generals picked up their second win of the season with a 66-36 blowout against Lighthouse Christian on Saturday morning at Hoosier Gym.
Jayonna Shirley led the Generals (2-3) with a team-high 15 points off the bench while Tiarra Lewis and Julia Perissi added 14 and 13, respectively.
Victoria Mann led Lighthouse Christian (2-3) with 11 points and Ellie Mae Winders added 10.
The Generals came back in the second quarter after being down 6-5 following the opening eight minutes. Perissi led the way with five points in the second frame while Courtney Austin and Shirley each added four.
Clarksville, which led 22-18 at the break, broke the game open in the third period. The Generals outscored the Lions 22-6 in the quarter. Shirley spearheaded Clarksville's offense in the third frame with six points while Perissi followed with five.
The Generals continued to pile on the points with 17 in the final frame, when Lewis led with eight.
Clarksville travels to Orleans for a 7:30 p.m. tip tonight.

PANTHERS RALLY PAST 'DOGS
NEW ALBANY — Evansville Reitz outscored host New Albany 11-0 to end the game for a 55-47 win at the Doghouse on Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs led 16-9 at the end of the first quarter before the Panthers battled back to lead 30-22 at the break. New Albany cut into Reitz's advantage in the third period and trailed 42-38 heading into the final frame.
The 'Dogs kept coming in the fourth quarter and led 47-44 late before the Panthers' game-closing run.
Freshman Emily Spainhour led the way for New Albany with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Sophia Corley and Reese Stiles added eight points apiece for the Bulldogs, who played without junior guard Grace McBride.
New Albany (1-5) will host Bloomington North at 7:30 p.m. tonight.

RED DEVILS FALL TO STAR IN HHC OPENER
BEDFORD — Class 4A No. 2 Bedford North Lawrence downed Jeffersonville 54-44 in the Hoosier Hills Conference-opener for both Saturday night.
The Red Devils led the defending state champ 9-7 after the first quarter of play. But Bedford responded in the second period, outscoring Jeff 18-12 to take a 25-21 lead into the locker room at halftime.
The Red Devils tallied six points in the third quarter and trailed 34-27 going into the final frame. The Stars (6-0, 1-0) outscored Jeffersonville 20-17 in the fourth period to secure the win.
BNL standout, and Alabama-signee Chloe Spreen, netted a team-high 19 points while Tori Nikirk added 13 and Madisyn Bailey 11.
Sophomore Keziah Renee' finished with a team-high 15 points for the Red Devils while senior Elle Marble added 10. Additionally, senior Lakyra Johnson grabbed a team-best 12 rebounds.
Jeff (3-3, 0-1) travels to No. 14 Jennings County (5-1) for another HHC contest at 7:30 p.m. tonight.
