'New Girl' ends series with one last epic prank
It was time to say goodbye to the beloved loft on the series finale of New Girl . Shortly before their wedding in the penultimate episode, Jess (Zooey Deschanel) found out that she and Nick (Jake Johnson) were being evicted, and that they had to be out in 30 days. Or so she thought. The finale picked up a month after the wedding with Jess and Nick inviting the crew over to tell them about the eviction. At the behest of Jess, that turned into reliving the old times. Turns out Jess kept all their old, seemingly meaningless stuff, including a stick Nick once used to fix the garbage disposal, and Schmidt’s (Max Greenfield) old cast from when he broke his penis, which Winston (Lamorne Morris) mistook for an old candy dish. And of course they couldn’t leave the loft without playing True American one more time. But all was not as it seemed. After they got the moving truck all packed, Schmidt pulled the door closed revealing a big picture of Winston with the word “Gotcha!” above his head. It turned out the whole eviction thing was just one last, great, elaborate prank by Winston. But, since the truck was already packed and they’d already gotten a new place, Jess and Nick moved on.
