Giants vs. Browns Player of the Game: Graham Gano
Two weeks ago, the New York Giants looked like a playoff team. Two weeks later, the Giants may have watched their division and playoff hopes go up in smoke.
With the Washington Football Team losing earlier in the day to the Seattle Seahawks, the Giants had a chance to reclaim first place if they had won on Sunday night against the Cleveland Browns. Instead, the Giants laid a massive egg and lost to the Browns, 20-6, at MetLife Stadium.
The offense at times looked overmatch, even with a healthy Colt McCoy on the field, who was playing in place for the injured Daniel Jones. The defense was missing one of their best players in James Bradberry, who was on the COVID/reserve list.
The player who really had any significance in the game was the kicker in Graham Gano, as he was the player who put up the only points for the Giants in the game.
Gano connected on a 37-yard field goal in the first quarter that put the Giants up early 3-0. He then connected on a 39-yard field goal in the fourth quarter that made the game 20-6, which is how it ended.
There have been other games earlier in the year where the Giants offense looked stale and couldn’t get it done, although those were earlier in the season. This time, with the division on the line, the offense going cold cost them big time. It’s the price a young team pays in a learning season.
