Giants rise slightly in USA TODAY power rankings

The New York Giants were defeated by the Chicago Bears, 17-13, at Soldier Field in Week 2, but that was far from their worst loss of the day.

Running back Saquon Barkley suffered a torn ACL and will miss the remainder of the season, while wide receiver Sterling Shepard is expected to miss several weeks as he deals with turf toe.

Still, despite falling to 0-2 for the fourth consecutive season and the seventh time in the last eight years, Nate Davis saw fight in these Giants and removed them from the basement in his latest version of the USA TODAY power rankings.

31. Giants (32): Despite disheartening loss of RB Saquon Barkley, New York continued to show quite a bit of fight and nearly left Chicago with a victory.

Comparatively, the Philadelphia Eagles dropped four spots to No. 29 overall, the Washington Football Team dropped three spots to No. 27 overall and the Dallas Cowboys dropped one spot to No. 16 overall.

There was also a change at the very top, where the Baltimore Ravens managed to overtake the Kansas City Chiefs for No. 1 overall.

Oh, and before we forget, the new basement dweller is the New York Jets, who dropped one spot to No. 32 overall.
