The Giants are already banged up at the wide receiver spot, and it now sounds like one of their young playmakers is not going be on the field for Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers.

A source tells SNY NFL Insider Ralph Vacchiano that Kadarius Toney is expected to miss at least one week as he deals with an ankle injury.

Per Vacchiano, it doesn't sound like the Giants plan to place Toney on IR, meaning they believe the absence will be shorter than three weeks.

Toney caught all three of his targets for 36 yards in Sunday's 38-11 loss to the Los Angeles Rams before leaving the game in the first quarter.

The first-round pick out of Florida didn't do much in his first three NFL games, but he's come on in a huge way for the Giants of late, racking up 19 catches for 303 yards in his last three games, including that early exit against the Rams.

Aside from Toney, the Giants are currently still dealing with injuries to Kenny Golladay (knee), Darius Slayton (hamstring), and CJ Board (placed on IR with a broken arm), with Sterling Shepard returning this past weekend. As a result, Big Blue signed Dante Pettis to their active roster off the practice squad on Tuesday.
