Georgetown dominates Phoenix in rubber game

Mar. 20—Cumberland could not take the series victory over Georgetown in the Mid-South Conference opening series, falling 23-2 Sunday in game three at Woody Hunt Stadium/Ernest L. Stockton Field.

The Tigers had revenge on their mind after the Phoenix jumped on them in the second game of the doubleheader Saturday. Back to back singles and a walk loaded the bases for Jarrett Chapman of Georgetown, who sent a ball over the left field fence, taking a 4-0 lead with only one out.

Another pair of singles put runners on the corners and smart base running from the Tigers saw a single score two more runs, extending the deficit further. By the time the inning was gone and done, Georgetown had pulled out to a 10-0 lead.
