GC Track & Field: Corsicana's Ja'Shaun Lloyd heads to Austin after monster day at UTA

Apr. 22—ARLINGTON — If it felt like it was Ja'Shaun Lloyd Day at the University of Texas at Arlington Monday, it's because it was.

Lloyd kept writing his own sterling story on the track Monday by shocking the field in the Boys Class 5A Region II Track & Field Meet.

He not only earned berths in the 5A State Track & Field Meet in the 110- and 300-hurdles by winning the 110s in 14.03 and finishing second in the 300-hurdles in 37.39 but he anchored Corsicana's 4x400 relay team that includes Keylen Haynes, Ty'Shaun Lloyd and Andre Ibanez that took home second-place (3:17.56) at UTA Monday to earn a trip to Austin.

Led by Lloyd's outstanding performance, the four Tigers racked up enough points (34) to lead the Tigers to a sixth-place finish overall in the 38-team field.

Lloyd took second-place in the 110s and sixth in the 300-hurdles at state last spring as sophomore and worked like crazy this year to improve. Just ask any of the runners who competed against him.
