GC Girls Basketball: Saniya scores 54 points in Rice's 72-45 win over Kemp

Jan. 11—KEMP — Rice All-American Saniya Burks scored a career-high 54 points Tuesday night at Kemp, where she led the Lady Bulldogs to a 72-45 victory.

Saniya has now scored 101 points in her last two games after she got mad when the Palmer boys team chanted "Overrated! Overrated!" at her last Friday during Rice's 62-35 victory.

Saniya responded with a 47-point game, including hitting seven (7-of-12) 3-pointers, and followed that performance by scoring 54 against Kemp to go along with 12 rebounds for an awesome double-double and eight steals Tuesday. She is the third-leading scorer in the nation.

Liviyah Nezar had her best game of the season Tuesday, scoring 10 points and pulling down six rebounds and sister Aaliyah Nezar had a big night, scoring eight points, grabbing five rebounds and making three steals.

The Lady Dawgs, who are now 12-4 and 5-1 in the district race, will be at home Friday night to sace Scurry-Rosser in a key district game.
