GC Girls Basketball: Rice Lady Dawgs win eighth in a row with 55-25 romp over Scurry-Rosser

Jan. 14—RICE — There's no slowing down Rice's Lady Bulldog basketball team.

The Rice girls won their eighth game in a row Friday, running away from Scurry-Rosser at home, where Saniya Burks scored just 31 points in a 55-25 romp (that's right, Saniya outscored the entire Scurry-Rosser team).

The reference to "just 31 points" isn't a joke. Saniya scored 101 points in Rice's previous two games, including a career-high 54-point night against Kemp last week.

She dropped in 31 points against S-C and also grabbed 10 rebounds for another impressive double-double to go along with seven steals and five assists to help Rice improve to 12-4.

Aaliyah Nezar, one of the top players in the Golden Circle, also had a big night for Rice, scoring 13 points to go along with four assists, three steals and two rebounds.

Liviyah Nezar did a little of everything for Rice, grabbing four rebounds, scoring three points, handing out two assists and making two steals. Sloan Cadena made four steals and scored three points and KK Davis scored three points for the Lady Dawgs, who are now 13-4 and 6-1 in district play.

Rice travels to face rival Mildred Tuesday night.
