GC Girls Basketball: Mildred reaps All-District honors

Mar. 1—MILDRED — Mildred's Lady Eagles had another big season on the court, reaching the playoffs again with a defense-first mentality and a disciplined offense that produced 18 wins in the brutal 18-3A district that included Rice and Malakoff, two of the top 3A girls teams in Texas.

Kami Owen, who was named the 18-3A Defensive Player of the Year, led the way for Lloyd Morgan's team, which battled all season as of the top defensive teams in the state.

Junior Krislynn Owen (Kami's sister) and senior Marcella Bryan were both named to the 18-3A all-district First-Team. Junior Parker Kittrell and Russian exchange-student Lucia Rasmussen, a junior who seemed to get better every day, made the Second-Team.

Kendall Ivie and Lilliianne Burnette were named to the All-District Honorable Mention list.
