GC Baseball: Tigers wrap up bye week with their 12th win in a row

They know all too well that they face their biggest test of the season when they play two district games this week against Forney — Tuesday at Forney and Friday at Price Field.

They didn't take a break during bye week, instead they played three non-district games to stay sharp and swept a doubleheader against Mabank Tuesday and knocked off Whitney 10-1 Saturday afternoon, winning their 12th game in a row and their 15th in their last 16 games, since Feb. 29.

Isaiah Miranda started Saturday and pitched three innings, allowing four hits and one earned run while walking one and striking out one, and Walker Smith tossed three hitless innings with two strikeouts. Josh Portillo, who can do it all. pitched a perfect seventh.

Portillo drove in three runs going 2-for-3, scoring twice with a double and Easton Autrey also had three RBIs. Leadoff hitter Adrian Baston went 2-for-3 and scored three runs as the 1-2-3 hitters in the lineup combined to score six runs and drive in six runs.

Connor Perkins drove in two runs, Dylan Anderton had an RBI and Oscar Castaneda scored twice.

The Tigers are now 18-4 and 6-0 in the District 14-4A race with six district games left.
