GC Baseball: Kerens pounds Martin's Mill twice -- 18-0 and 10-0

Mar. 15—KERENS — There are Mercy Rule games, and then there are very merciful games. Kerens knows all about that.

The Bobcat baseball team played Martin's Mill twice this week and scored 28 runs over a 48-hour period without giving up a single hit, hammering the Mustangs 18-0 and 10-0 to open the district race with a memorable 2-0 start.

The Ritchie Twins — Kannon and Krayton — both pitched short-game no-hitters. Kannon tossed a five-inning no-hitter Tuesday with a remarkable performance, striking out 14 of the 15 outs he needed in an 18-0 victory and Krayton threw an impressive, five-inning no-hitter, striking out 10 in Kerens' 10-0 win Wednesday.

Kannon also went 3-for-4 and drove in a run Tuesday while Krayton went 1-for-3, scored and drove in four runs the 18-0 laugher.

Andy Conklin went 2-for-3, scored three times and drove in a run Tuesday and Matt Rickard (1-for-4) scored three runs and drove in two runs. JJ Hightower went 3-for-3, scored and drove in two runs, Adrian Solis (1-for-3) scored twice and drove in two runs, and Muziq Gunnell (1-for-3) scored and drove in two runs Tuesday.

The Bobcats scored 10 runs in just four at-bats Wednesday. Kannon went 2-for-2, doubled, tripled, scored and drove in five runs and Krayton went 2-for-2 with a double and drove in three runs.

Lane Lynch went 2-for-2, doubled, stole a base and scored and Ryan Priddy walked twice and scored three runs. Hightower scored and drove in a run and Rickard drove in a run.
