Gavisk's 29 points not enough as Webb City outlasts Walnut Grove

Jan. 23—Webb City fended off Walnut Grove and Jacie Gavisk's 29-point performance on Tuesday night at home.

The Cardinals were trailing 25-20 at halftime and 42-41 entering the final quarter of play. They earned a 52-50 victory in that fourth quarter.

A 3-pointer from Mia Robbins and another from Malorie Stanley carried the offense to its 11 points in the final eight minutes while the defense held the opposition to just 8 points in the quarter.

Addison Burns played a large role for Webb City in the third-quarter comeback making 5 of 6 free throws in that period. Robbins also knocked in two 3-pointers to lead the team with 6 points in that quarter. Burns scored 7 points and shot 7 for 8 on free throws in the game.

Robbins led the team with 12 points on four 3-pointers. Stanley added 11 as did freshman Whitlee Keith. Keith had 8 of the team's 13 in the first quarter.

The Cardinals improved to 6-11 with the win and will meet Clever on Thursday night for a 7:15 p.m. tipoff back inside the Cardinal Dome.
