Gators make top 10 for 2024 priority quarterback target DJ Lagway

The Florida Gators made the first cut for elite 2024 quarterback target DJ Lagway on Sunday.

Lagway named UF to his top 10 along with Alabama, Arkansas, Baylor, Clemson, Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma, Texas A&M and USC. The in-state Aggies have hosted him 10 times already, but he’s coming off his third visit to the Swamp and is high on the Gators, according to Swamp247.

“Definitely high,” Lagway said of his interest in playing for Florida. “They are definitely one of my favorite schools. I really like them. I would say I like them just because of the coaches. They are strict and hardworking type of coaches, but they are also great people. I am excited to see how they do this season. They have a family atmosphere and everyone is always around you and just very loving and they want to make it feel like your home away from home.”

Lagway’s plan is to be decided by next summer, so official visits are likely to come in spring. Texas A&M is considered a lock to get one, but Clemson and USC are the other two schools he’s mentioned openly. Billy Napier’s recruiting army will do whatever they can to get Florida one of those official visits, and they appear to be on the right track.

A five-star quarterback on the 247Sports composite, Lagway is ranked No. 30 overall and No. 5 among quarterbacks in the class.
