Gators News: Tennis singles and doubles continue, baseball kicks off SEC Tournament

We enter the final week of the month of May with three Gators sports currently competing in postseason play, as the men’s and women’s tennis programs are currently participating in the NCAA singles and doubles tournaments, while the baseball team gets started with the Southeastern Conference Tournament. Things start cracking early today, so here is a quick look at what is on tap.

Men's tennis

https://twitter.com/GatorsMTN/status/1396998721355853824 Florida men's tennis' Sam Riffice advanced to the Round of 16 in the 2021 NCAA Singles Tournament on Monday after a comeback win over Andres Martin of Georgia Tech on Monday at the USTA National Campus. Today the Illinois Illini's Siphosothando Montsi at noon EDT. Riffice remains the lone Gator in competition after his teammates failed to advance yesterday.

Women's tennis

https://twitter.com/GatorsWTN/status/1397175566290223112 On the women's side, McCartney Kessler and Marlee Zein advanced to the round of 16 at the NCAA Doubles Championship on Monday evening at the USTA National Campus with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over the Louisville Cardinals' duo. The two are scheduled to play today against an opponent yet to be announced.

Baseball

https://twitter.com/GatorsBB/status/1397158660888047619 The No. 13 baseball team kicks off its postseason journey on Tuesday against the Kentucky Wildcats bright and early starting at 10:30 a.m. EDT. UF has won eight of the last 11 games after taking two of three in a road series during the first week of May and should hold the upper hand on Tuesday morning. The game can be watched on the SEC Network and can be heard on ESPN 98.1FM/850AM WRUF.
