Gators News: Florida sports in full gear this weekend

Folks, the big weekend is finally here! After a few weeks of sparse action, the fall season officially begins today as we have five teams to report on heading into the weekend.

The soccer team struggled against superior competition last night while the men’s tennis team starts off its season this morning and the volleyball kicks off a two-game set tonight. Then tomorrow, the cross country team also gets started on its fall campaign. And of course, who can forget that the football team has a date in Tampa with an in-state foe. Here is what’s on tap for the first big weekend for Gators sports.

Soccer

The soccer team fell to the No. 2 North Carolina Tar Heels last night, 7-1, in a game that was delay by lightning. The loss drops the Gators to 1-5-1 on the season. Next up is a trip to Vanderbilt next Friday, with the opening draw scheduled for 8 p.m. EDT.

Volleyball
