We are on the doorstep of another weekend and after a very slow news week for Gators sports, this Friday brings reasons to be proud of the Orange and Blue. Two athletic programs had a pair of players named to a prestigious academic honor roll while a third saw an incoming freshman named to the United States national team. Here is a look at the latest from the Swamp.

Gymnastics

This award honors the nation's top student-athletes for their performance in the classroom and on the court. The two Gators student-athletes advance to the national ballot; the national team is announced Aug. 6.

Men's tennis

Florida was the only university other than the Alabama Crimson Tide to have multiple honorees make the academic team in the district.

Volleyball
