The big day is nearly here! Tomorrow, the Florida Gators return to the football field for the first time in 2021 against the Florida Atlantic Owls as Dan Mullen kicks off his fourth year at the head of the program. Meanwhile, the soccer and volleyball teams — both of whom have already started their fall schedules — continue to compete with the former playing last night and slated for Sunday action while the latter will also take the court on Sunday. Here is a look at what you need to know heading into UF’s first real sports weekend of the autumn season.
The soccer team traveled to Tallahassee on Thursday to face the top squad in the nation — the Florida State Seminoles — and came away with a 5-2 loss. The Gators remain winless on the season with a 0-4-1 record while FSU improved its record to 5-0. Florida gets a chance to find new head coach Tony Amato's first win at the helm of the program on Sunday when it makes its first trip to Ft. Myers to face the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles. First draw is scheduled for 1 p.m. EDT and can be watched streaming on Facebook Live or heard on GatorVision.
