Gators land in top 10 for this 4-star offensive tackle

Four-star Copperas Cove (Texas) offensive tackle Michael Uini is down to 10 programs: Florida, Alabama, Baylor, Georgia, Michigan, Nebraska, Oregon, USC, Texas and Texas Christian.

As the 20th-best player in the state of Texas, according to the 247Sports composite, Uini’s offers were ballooning and he had to cut things down. He passed on offers from Auburn, LSU, Michigan State, Oklahoma and Texas A&M among others. The 247Sports composite also ranks Uini at No. 112 overall in the class of 2024 and No. 10 among players at his position.

Since Uini’s announcement, Florida quarterback commit DJ Lagway has publicly recruited him on Twitter. He’s not shying away from any Florida connections, but most consider Baylor and Texas as the favorites for now, according to 247Sports. Uini praised both programs and said proximity helped them get ahead early.

He hasn’t scheduled any spring visits yet, but getting on campus should help open Uini up to life outside of Texas. Right now, Uini is looking at the teams that are talking to him the most and forming connections with him. The vetting process should get a bit more serious now that a second stage has begun.

Uini plans to take things slow and wait until the middle of his senior year or after to commit.
