Garrett Whitlock is turning into a legitimate ace before our very eyes.

The Boston Red Sox right-hander got the start for Wednesday night's game against the Los Angeles Angels. That means he was tasked with taking on two of the game's biggest stars, Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani.

Advantage: Whitlock.

Whitlock struck out the side -- Brandon Marsh, Trout, and then Ohtani -- on 15 pitches in the first inning. Watch the sequence below:

Whitlock went on to cruise through the second inning, inducing a ground out and striking out another two batters. If the 25-year-old's domination continues, it'll be tough to deny him a permanent spot in Boston's starting rotation.
