The tone is already set for today's game in College Park, Md. The doors opened early at Xfinity Center for Maryland students. The reason? Full-on choreography sessions for halftime cheers/dances.

I would imagine that means the Terrapins expect more fans for today's game than they drew earlier this week with Iowa in town. (That wouldn't be a number too difficult to beat. The stands were seriously empty for the game against the Hawkeyes).

A tradition since 1910

The Maryland fans aren't the only group pumped for this game. Illinois is, too. The Illini have not won in College Park in the Brad Underwood era and have just a single win — ever — at Maryland in the history of the series in the 2011 Big Ten/ACC Challenge.

The vibe from this season's Illini? That streak of futility is going to end today.

Not that it will be a cakewalk. Maryland won in Champaign last month behind a 28-point performance from Jahmir Young and a 20-and-11 double-double from Julian Reese. Not letting those two get going will be key. So will stopping Donta Scott, who seems to be at his best against Illinois.

Whether the Illini can pull that off or not is the question. Follow along with beat writer Scott Richey all afternoon/evening from College Park to find out if they can:
