Gameday Central | Maryland at No. 10 Illinois; 1 p.m., BTN

Jan. 14—Most of the teams ranked in the top 10 have lost this week. Including the three teams at the top of the AP Top 25. Plenty more ranked teams have suffered an upset in the last six days.

Illinois has not. The 10th-ranked Illini took care of business Thursday against Michigan State. Now they have to do the same this afternoon against Maryland.

On paper, the Terrapins present less of a threat than the Spartans. But this is the Big Ten. It's goofy. There have been plenty of outcomes in conference play that require a head scratch or two.

Illinois can't sleep on Maryland ... even if the Terps are one of the worst shooting teams in the country. Jahmir Young is still one of the top scorers in the conference, and Donta Scott seems to have a knack for putting up big games against the Illini.

So far, a veteran Illinois team has handled those type of challenges well. The Illini just have to do it again. Follow along with beat writer Scott Richey all afternoon to find out if they can:
