Gamecocks in the pros: few players adjusting to new teams

A full update on former Gamecock players and how they're doing with their respective major and minor league teams.

MLB

Jackie Bradley Jr. went 6-for-18 (.333) over the last seven days with a triple and eight RBI. He's hitting .261 this year for the first-place Boston Red Sox.

Sam Dyson continues his solid work for the San Fransisco Giants, picking up a save this week, his tenth of the year. He has a 2.05 ERA now after joining the Giants with a 10.80 ERA.

Whit Merrifield went 3-for-29 (.103) for the Kansas City Royals as they continue their playoff push. He scored three runs and has a .283 batting average with a .320 on-base percentage this year.

After a few rough outings for the New York Yankees, Jordan Montgomery was sent down to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He has a 7-6 record and 4.00 ERA in his rookie season.

Steve Pearce went 8-for-24 (.333) over the last seven days with a double, triple and home run and two RBI. He's raised his average to .271 on the season for the Toronto Blue Jays.

Continuing his power-surge season, Justin Smoak went 6-for-28 (.214) with two doubles and five RBI for the Blue Jays.

Triple-A

Bryan Harper is still on the Syracuse Chiefs's (Washington) 60-day disabled list.

On a hot streak, Evan Marzilli went 9-for-16 (.563) with five runs scored and four RBI for the Reno Aces (Arizona). He's raised his average to .323 this season after being promoted July 31.

Peter Mooney went 3-for-17 (.176) for the New Orleans Baby Cakes (Miami) with a homer and two RBI. He's hitting .218 this season.

After getting signed a little over a month ago by the Durham Bulls (Tampa Bay), Michael Roth started one game this week. He gave up five earned over 4.2 innings. He has a 5.53 ERA in nine games since being picked up.

Christian Walker went 5-for-18 (.278) for the Aces (Arizona) with four RBI, including a home run to break the Aces' single-season record. He's hitting .311 this year and is just a few RBI short of breaking that record as well.

Making two appearances this week, Tyler Webb gave up two earned over 2.1 combined innings. He has a 6.75 ERA in 12 appearances since being assigned to the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (Milwaukee).

Double-A

Grayson Greiner went 3-for-5 (.600) for the Erie SeaWolves (Detroit), including a two home run day Aug. 18. He picked up four RBI this week as well.

Kyle Martin went 1-for-16 (.063) with an RBI for the Reading Fighting Phils.

Making three relief appearances, Joel Seddon gave up on earned run over four combined innings. Pitching for the Midland RockHounds (Oakland) he has a 4.99 ERA.

Max Schrock hit .375 (9-for-24) for the RockHounds (Oakland) with two RBI. He's hitting .342 over his last 10 games.

Starting one game this week, Jack Wynkoop threw seven innings, giving up two earned runs while striking out five. He lowered his season ERA to 4.53 for the Hartford Yard Goats (Colorado).

Single-A

Evan Beal made two appearances for the Greensboro Grasshoppers (Miami), giving up two earned runs over four innings. He has a 1.93 ERA since being promoted to Greensboro.

Still getting adjusted to coming off the disabled list, Gene Cone went 2-for-21 (.095) with a run and two RBI for the Columbia Fireflies (Mets).

Wil Crowe made one start for the Auburn Doubledays (Washington), pitching three scoreless innings with two strikeouts. He has a 2.31 ERA in four starts in the New York-Penn League.

Alex Destino went 6-for-17 (.353) for the AZL White Sox (White Sox) with three RBI.

In five games this week, Tanner English went 1-for-11 (.091) with three runs scored. He's hitting .210 since being assigned to the Fort Meyers Miracle (Minnesota) in May.

Tyler Johnson made one appearance for the Kannapolis Intimidators (White Sox), giving up two earned runs on three hits in less than an inning pitched.

Swinging a hot bat, Marcus Mooney went 8-for-23 (.347) with seven runs scored and four RBI. He's hitting .303 over his last 10 games for the Rome Braves (Atlanta).

Joey Pankake went 4-for-15 (.267) for the Lakeland Flying Tigers (Detroit) with an RBI.

Playing with his teammate, John Parke started one game for the AZL White Sox (White Sox). He gave up three earned in 4.2 innings with three strikeouts. He has a 2.48 ERA to start his career.

Josh Reagan made two appearances, pitched two scoreless innings while striking out three. He also picked up a save for the Vermont Lake Monsters (Oakland).

Fresh off of his call-up to the Charleston RiverDogs (Yankees), Dom Thompson-Williams went 5-for-22 (.227) with three runs scored. He's hitting .205 since being promoted.

Matt Vogel threw 1.2 innings for the Hudson Valley Renegades (Tampa Bay), giving up a earned run while striking out three.

Making a quality start for the Minnesota Timber Rattlers (Milwaukee), Braden Webb allowed one earned run over 5.2 innings with seven strikeouts. He lowered his season ERA to 4.58.

Taylor Widener started one game for the Tampa Yankees (Yankees), striking out six and only giving up one earned run in four innings.
