The official, definitive list of the greatest TV shows of the 21st century has been decided – and it's all thanks to the readers of Digital Spy. So, to celebrate the launch of Digital Spy's very first digital magazine on Apple News+ (which you can find out more about here), here's which series bagged a place in the coveted top 10.

Despite a divisive final season, none other than Game of Thrones has been crowned the best show of the century so far, beating stiff competition from the likes of Netflix's Stranger Things and the beloved BBC classic Doctor Who.

Almost 3,000 people cast their votes in the Digital Spy poll and the top 10 greatest TV shows of the 21st century are *drum roll*:

  1. Game of Thrones

  2. Stranger Things

  3. Doctor Who

  4. Sherlock

  5. Breaking Bad

  6. The Great British Bake Off

  7. Killing Eve

  8. Gavin & Stacey

  9. Line of Duty

  10. Chernobyl

Disappointed your go-to series didn't make the cut? You can find out where it placed in the top 100 by downloading the debut issue of Digital Spy's digital magazine here.

The good news is, you can get your copy for the grand total of absolutely nothing, thanks to the Apple News+ one-month free trial, which also lets you binge on all of the platform's other titles, too.

Thrilled to hear of Game of Thrones' victory thanks to Digital Spy readers, Richard Brake – better known as the Night King of seasons four and five – told the publication: "Honestly, I'm just incredibly honoured: A) that that happened, and B) I'm just so grateful to have been a part of that.

"It just felt like a really special, special show in the history of storytelling. So I was incredibly grateful that I got to not only be a part of it, but I got to be the baddest badass on it as well."
