Friday Roundup: McKinley holds off GlenOak; Marlington's Connor Evanich breaks dad's record

HIGH SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL

McKINLEY 50, GLENOAK 45 McKinley overcame an early six-point deficit to defeat GlenOak at Memorial Field House in the Federal League finale for both teams. Jahlil Graham led the Bulldogs with 13 points. Lonzo Henderson added 11 points for McKinley (14-6, 8-4), which gained its fifth straight win and ninth in the last 10 games.

Kihmani McNeil had 23 points to lead GlenOak (9-11, 3-9). The Golden Eagles trailed the Bulldogs by just two points heading into the fourth quarter but McKinley outscored GlenOak 19-16 the rest of the way. The game was varsity only and played before limited fans because of a "possible safety and security issue."

GREEN 66, ST. IGNATIUS 64 OT The Bulldogs closed their regular season with an overtime win in Sullivan Gym to move to 20-2. No details were reported.

LAKE 55, NORTHWEST 50 Lake used a big second half to win on the road. The Blue Streaks trailed by 10 points at halftime before outscoring Northwest 37-22 in the second half to win.

Chance Casenhiser scored 19 of his 22 points in the second half to lead Lake (15-6), which has five straight games entering Monday's regular-season finale against Buchtel at Memorial Civic Center.

Alex Goddard had 12 points to lead Northwest and Garrett Baughman scored 11.

HOBAN 53, JACKSON 46 Will Scott scored 16 points and Logan Vowles added 15 to lead visiting Hoban (14-7).

Owen Woolbert finished with 13 points for the Polar Bears, who trailed by just one at the end of the third quarter. Kevin James totaled 12 points and four rebounds. Ben Sullivan added 11 points as Jackson (11-11) lost its fourth straight game to end the regular season.

HOOVER 53, AKRON NORTH 33 Elijah Barker and Tanner Ware scored nine points each as Hoover ended the regular season with a win at Dick Snyder Court. Barker also had 10 rebounds for Hoover (17-5). Hoover held North to six points or less in each of the first three quarters.

Lamar Dampier led North with 14 points.

MASSILLON 65, FIRESTONE 58 Elijah Farrington scored a game-high 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to give helps Tigers win on the road and snap a three-game skid. Ardell Banks posted a double of 17 points and 17 rebounds for Massillon (10-10).

KENMORE-GARFIELD 37, MARLINGTON 35 Connor Evanich hit the 152nd 3-pointer of his career to break a Marlington record in the Dukes’ final regular-season game. The old record was held by his father, Marlington head coach Nick Evanich.

Casey Miller led the Dukes (17-5) with eight points. Tommy Skelding grabbed eight rebounds. McNeal Thompson led Kenmore-Garfield (7-11) with 13 points, Smookie Vaughn scored 12 and Ronnie Hightower added 10.

ALLIANCE 75, FITCH 57 Diego Allen led the Aviators (16-4) to the win with 18 points. Stephen Gales added 17, K’Vaughn Davis contributed 16 and Brendan Zurbrugg scored 13.

Gianni Maley led Fitch with 18 points. The Falcons fell behind 38-20 by halftime.

CANTON SOUTH 56, TUSLAW 53 Brady Noll scored 17 points as the Wildcats (13-9) won on the road in the regular-season finale for both teams.

Ty Pratt led Tuslaw (12-10) with 18 points and Troy Harbeitner scored 17.

WEST BRANCH 58, MOONEY 47 Dru DeShields scored 20 points as West Branch closed out the regular season with a win.

Jaxon Hendershott and Joey Jackson finished with 11 points apiece for West Branch.

FAIRLESS 49, TRIWAY 43 Tayler Buttermore hit five 3s and scored 16 points to help lead the Falcons past the Titans in PAC-7 action.

Buttermore shot 5-of-8 from behind the arc. He also grabbed four rebounds.

Brody Pumneo shot 8-of-10 from the foul line and scored 14 points for Fairless (9-12, 4-8). He added four rebounds, four assists and two steals.

EAST CANTON 38, JACKSON-MILTON 35 Luke Riley scored 12 points to lead East Canton.

WARREN JFK 87, LAKE CENTER CHRISTIAN 71 Nick Ryan made six 3-pointers and scored a game-high 32 points for JFK.

Ethan Bower scored 25 points to lead Lake Center, Anthony Williamson added 12 points for the Tigers, while Matthew Warder scored 11 and Charlie Christopher had 10.
