FRESHMAN POWER: Jacksonville girls win team title at Corsicana Tiger Invitational

Mar. 5—CORSICANA — Four Jacksonville High School freshman proved that patience, persistence and practice

pays off when they joined forces to win the team championship in the Corsicana Tiger Classic Monday at the Corsicana Country Club.

Team Jacksonville came in four strokes in front of second-place Ferris to secure the top honor.

"It's exciting to see these ladies get rewarded (for) their dedication and hard work," Jacksonville head golf coach Jason Shuck said.

What makes this achievement all the more astonishing is the fact that each young lady is a 9th-grader and two members of the squad were participating in their first formal competition ever.

Caroline Ault's 119 was the low score for Jacksonville. Bailey Tarrant came in at 122, followed by Kaylee Douglas (125) and Andi Speaker (127).

The Maidens' next action will come on March 19 in Canton (Van Zandt Country Club).
