Frederick takes advantage of ACM turnovers in 73-63 win

Jan. 25—FREDERICK — Allegany College of Maryland struggled with turnovers and host Frederick took advantage in the Cougars' 73-63 win on Wednesday.

The Trojans (2-12, 0-6 NJCAA Region 20) committed 29 turnovers and the Cougars (8-5, 2-2 Region 20) turned them into 24 points.

Frederick committed 10 turnovers that led to 15 points for Allegany.

C'Niyah Turner led the Trojans with 17 points off the bench. She shot 9 of 11 at the free-throw line and added six rebounds.

Saniya Brown scored 11 points with three rebounds and three assists.

Morgan Taylor and Ziahya Lomax each scored 10 points. Lomax had seven rebounds while Taylor recorded six.

Paige Smith scored a game-high 22 points for Frederick. She added seven assists, five rebounds and five steals.

Jasmine Hardy recorded a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Breonah Lawyer finished with 13 points and two steals.

The Trojans led 18-15 after one quarter but trailed 35-30 at halftime and 52-43 after three quarters.

Allegany hosts CCBC Catonsville on Saturday at 1 p.m.
