Frank Ntilikina's Big Fit Is the Best Thing to Happen to the Knicks This Season

There’s an old saying: where there’s smoke, there’s fire. Less discussed is the lost-to-history second half: where there’s Frankie Smokes, there are fire fits. That’s a joke almost as bad as the start of the NBA season for the New York Knicks. But if there’s a single bright spot, it’s been the reemergence of Frank Ntilikina both on and off the court.

The rangy French point guard showed up to the arena Sunday wearing Jack Purcell-style shoes and a variety of garments that slid up and down the sizing scale: skinny distressed jeans, a big oversized Balenciaga sweater, and a cross-body bag so small it wouldn’t even fit all the vowels in his last name. His NBA tunnel appearance would be the high point of the night. The Knicks lost so badly to the not-very-good Cleveland Cavaliers that the team president and general manager felt compelled to organize an impromptu joint press conference. On his ESPN radio show today, Stephen A. Smith, screamed-slash-incanted that the Knicks are “straight trash.” He wasn’t talking about Ntilikina’s Big Fit of the Day, though.
