Two adults and two juveniles face charges in connection with a Monday afternoon shooting that injured a 3-year-old child, according to Capt. Jack Kennedy of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit.

Officers with the Tuscaloosa Police Department responded after a shooting was reported around 4:15 p.m. at the Village at Brook Meadows, an apartment complex at 415 Hargrove Road E.

Several witnesses told police that an exchange of gunfire occurred among people near the apartment complex's pool. A 3-year-old child who was swimming in the pool was struck by the gunfire.

The child was airlifted to Children's of Alabama hospital in Birmingham and Kennedy said the child is expected to survive his injuries.

After a search, four suspects were arrested and jailed.

Aamod Tre’Shon Jones, 19, was charged with three counts of attempted murder and first-degree assault, with bonds totaling $280,000. Tyriek O’Shay Evans, 18, was charged with two counts of attempted murder and first-degree assault, with bonds set at $220,000.

The two juveniles were charged as adults and also face attempted murder and first-degree assault charges. Police will not release the identity of the juveniles because they are younger than 18.

Investigators said the four suspects were not residents of the apartment complex.

Kennedy said other suspects in the shooting are being sought.
