Fort Hill holds off Northern; Frankfort tops Mtn. Ridge in slugfest

Mar. 25—CUMBERLAND — Fort Hill scored six runs in the first inning and MaeLeigh Plummer threw a complete game to help the Sentinels to their first win of the season Friday, an 8-5 victory over Northern.

Tatum Bishop finished 2 for 3 with a double to lead the Fort Hill offense, which out-hit Northern, 8-6. Rory Martz and N. Dunn also singled and drove in two runs each.

Plummer allowed five runs (three earned) on six hits in seven innings pitched, striking out three and walking four.

Bailey Champlin also went the distance for Northern in the circle, surrendering eight runs (seven earned) on eight hits with five Ks and seven base on balls.

Lily Chambers went 2 for 3 with a double for the Huskies.

Fort Hill (1-1) hosts Southern on Monday at 4:30 p.m. Northern is at Hancock on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

Frankfort 16 Mtn. Ridge 6

FROSTBURG — Mountain Ridge jumped out to a 5-0 lead, but Frankfort racked up 20 hits to score 16 of the game's final 17 runs Friday.

Frankfort's Avery Noel, a Liberty commit, went 4 for 4 with a triple, four RBIs and two runs scored; Addison Pritts went 3 for 4 with a triple and a double; Aubrie Root was 3 for 5 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored; Chloe Judy was 2 for 5 with a double; R. Nestor doubled and drove in four runs; and Morgan Weimer, Dayahna Imes and Jordan Owens had two hits each.

Mountain Ridge's offense was paced by Jaianna Wickline, who was 3 for 3. Maddie Bowman was 2 for 4 with a double; Lanie Iski had a multi-hit game; and Macy Barth doubled and scored twice.

Mountain Ridge (1-1) hosts Petersburg (3-0) on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. Frankfort is at Hampshire (0-4) on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
