According to Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes, Suns wing Kelly Oubre Jr. suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee. He is in the process of seeking a second opinion from a specialist before moving forward.
A timeline for recovery is not yet specified, though depending on the severity, could end his season.
In his first full season with the Suns, Oubre was enjoying himself a career-year, averaging 18.7 points and 6.4 rebounds while shooting 45% from the field. The Suns acquired him in the infamous Brooks trade between Phoenix, the Grizzlies and Wizards.
Washington sent Oubre and Austin Rivers to the Suns in exchange for Trevor Ariza, who eventually signed with the Kings this past summer. Oubre flashed his scoring potential on the wing during the second half of last season, so the Suns decided to give him a two-year extension worth $30 million.
It appears their investment in Oubre is paying off so far, and even if Oubre misses the rest of the year, a torn meniscus is not a torn ACL or MCL. The bad news for Wizards fans, other than the injury of course, would be the fact they probably won't be able to see Oubre in person on March 25 when the Suns visit the Wizards for a late-season matchup.
