Former Sixers forward Robert Covington defends Ben Simmons on Instagram

It’s no secret that the fan base of the Philadelphia 76ers can get a little rowdy, just like any fan base in the league, and they are known as some of the toughest in the NBA in terms of how often they boo and how often they let their voices be heard.

On Thursday night, things boiled over in the return of Ben Simmons with the Brooklyn Nets. In his first time at the Wells Fargo Center since Game 7 of the 2021 East semifinals, Simmons received a lot of boos, and fans definitely voiced their displeasure with the former Sixers cornerstone all night long.

Robert Covington, who spent some time in Philadelphia, chimed in with an Instagram comment. There was a video of Sixers fans asking Simmons about the grievance he plans to file and Covington seemed to throw some shade towards Philadelphia fans.

Covington, now with the Los Angeles Clippers, benefitted greatly from playing next to Simmons as a catch-and-shoot 3-point guy. It makes sense as to why he would defend his former teammate a bit.
