Former Rangers president John Davidson is returning to the Columbus Blue Jackets in a similar role, the team announced Thursday morning.

Davidson, who was fired by the Rangers -- along with GM Jeff Gorton and head coach David Quinn -- earlier this month, signed a five-year deal with Columbus to become their president of hockey operations and alternate governor.

This is a return for Davidson to the exact role he held with the Blue Jackets from 2012-2019 before joining the Rangers.

Chris Drury was promoted to president and GM after the firings, and the Rangers are still searching for a head coach, but interviews have reportedly begun to be set up for the role.
