Former Panthers WR Robbie Anderson changes first name to Chosen
Some folks still may be unsure about how to refer to former Carolina Panthers wideout Robbie (or is it Robby?) Anderson. But he might’ve just made our jobs a lot easier.
If you take a look at Anderson’s instagram page, he lists his name as “Anderson R, Chosen.” Additionally, he has posted a screenshot of a text message that seemingly implies that a name change has been legally approved.

The veteran pass catcher caught some attention when he made a slight modification to his name last spring, going from Robby to Robbie. So, yes, he’s had three names in less than a year.
He’s also only had 17 more receptions than he did names in that time period. A tumultuous 2022 campaign for Anderson, one that included an in-season trade to the Arizona Cardinals, saw the 26-year-old reel in just 20 balls for 282 yards and one touchdown—all career-lows.
Funnily enough, “Chosen” is the given name of Cam Newton’s firstborn son. We know Robbie—er, Chosen—is a big Cam fan, but we doubt there’s any connection here.
