Former Notre Dame commit to join reigning champs

·1 min read

Former Notre Dame commitment Justyn Rhett appeared to be the next great safety headed to play for the Irish but that all changed a couple weeks back when he announced he was withdrawing his commitment. It didn’t take long for Rhett to announce his new intentions as he did so Monday, stating that he now plans to attend Georgia.

Rhett, a four-star safety from Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas, is ranked as the 107th player in the 2023 recruiting cycle by 247Sports. Rhett’s flip from Notre Dame to Georgia made an impact as the Bulldogs currently rank third in the 247Sports team recruiting rankings for 2023, behind the Irish at one and Texas Tech at two. It should be noted that Texas Tech’s 19 commitments are as many as Notre Dame and Georgia combine to have, but that only four of those 19 have a four-star rating even.

All the best to Rhett at Georgia. Hopefully he’ll get a chance to take on the Irish down the road in the college football playoff.
