Former Mets GM Brodie Van Wagenen has been hired as COO of Jay Z's Roc Nation Sports.

"Talent drives Sport," Van Wagenen tweeted on Wednesday while announcing the next step of his career. "Celebrate it. Maximize it. Reward it. For 20+ years as an Agent & GM, this has been my mindset. Taking it to a new level with JAY-Z."

Van Wagenen's roughly two-year tenure as GM of the Mets ended on Nov. 6 when Steve Cohen took over as owner and Sandy Alderson became team president

During his two seasons at the helm, Van Wagenen's Mets finished 86-76 in 2019 and 26-34 in 2020 during the shortened 60-game season -- tied with the Washington Nationals for last place in the NL East.

Van Wagenen's future with the Mets became an open question toward the end of last season, with the pending arrival of Cohen as owner and Cohen's hiring of Alderson as team president changing the organizational dynamic.

Van Wagenen, 46, was hired by the Mets on Oct. 29, 2018 after working as an agent as the co-head of CAA Sports' baseball division.
