Former JHS assistant football coach named as head coach at Groveton

Feb. 24—GROVETON — A former Jacksonville High School assistant football coach, Michael Waldie, was named this week as the head football coach at Groveton High School.

Waldie served on head coach Chris Taber's Jacksonville staff during the 2012 and 2013 seasons.

Waldie has been the head coach at Luling, Woodville, Daingerfield and Gonzales.

For the past two years he worked as the offensive coordinator at Bryan High School.

Groveton will be playing in Class 2A, Division I, District 12 for the upcoming-two school terms. Also included in the district are Centerville, Corrigan-Camden, Hearne, Jewett Leon and Normangee.
