Bryant homers in Giants debut to complete trifecta history originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

Kris Bryant made it a trifecta.

His fellow former Cubs stars had set a high bar on new-team debuts over the past couple days.

The Cubs had traded away championship core members Bryant, Javy Báez and Anthony Rizzo in a spree of deadline moves. Then, Rizzo hit a home run in his first game with the Yankees on Friday. Báez homered in his first game with the Mets on Saturday.

Bryant’s Giants debut was set for Sunday. In the third inning against the Astros, Bryant belted a solo shot to left for San Francisco’s first run of the game.

According to Stats Perform, Rizzo, Báez and Bryant are the first trio in the modern era to leave one team and each homer in their debut with a different team the same season.

Three core players gone. Three days. Three debut homers.
