Braden Holtby stuck at US-Canadian border with two tortoises originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington
Braden Holtby could use a save.
The beloved former Washington Capitals goaltender is currently stuck at the US Canadian border with the family's two tortoises, Honey and Maple.
Holby's wife, Brandi, posted to Twitter in the hopes of one of her followers having a connection with US Federal Fish and Wildlife Services to help push export papers along.
Hey Twitter, does anyone have any sweet connections with Federal Fish and Wildlife that could push some export papers along in order to get two happy tortoises across the border? 🇨🇦🐢🐢🇺🇸 We miss our boys!

According to Brandi's tweet, they obtained an import permit, but didn't know they needed an export permit.
The latest update is that the FWS is aware and working on resolving the issue.
🐢🐢 UPDATE: Thank you to all of the kind souls out there who have made an effort to help! FWS is aware of our situation and they are working towards a solution to get Braden and the boys home!🇨🇦

"I will let you know when they are safely in Canada sipping Double-Double and sharing Timbits," she tweeted.
Holtby signed a two-year deal with Vancouver in October, ending his Stanley Cup-winning tenure in DC.
