Former Buffs WR Chris Carpenter lands at UTSA
The Colorado Buffaloes have watched quite a few players leave via the transfer portal for various reasons, and among them was wide receiver Chris Carpenter on Dec. 5.
Now, the former Buffs receiver has found a new program in his home state of Texas with the University of Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners, Adam Munsterteiger of 247Sports reported on Tuesday morning.
The freshman from Jacksonville, Texas, registered just seven catches for 45 yards in his lone season wearing the Buffs uniform and he’ll now head to UTSA, a team that exceeded its expectations despite a Frisco Bowl loss to San Diego State.

At 6-foot-1 and 160-pounds, Carpenter is a quick receiver who can help UTSA and perhaps get far more run.
UTSA’s offense was electric this past season. The Roadrunners finished 23rd in points per game, 49th in total yards, and 73rd and 72nd in passing yards and rushing yards, respectively, in the FBS.
They held an undefeated record all the way until the end of November when they lost to North Texas and then dropped to the Aztecs in the Frisco Bowl.
Nonetheless, Carpenter’s decision to join UTSA makes a lot of sense for him, and hopefully, the former Buff can get some decent run in the Roadrunners’ explosive offense.
